Explore Deeply Routed

The flow of human history, like the water rushing to the sea, cannot be easily contained. Like truth, it defies our efforts to bury, divert, or ignore it. It overflows its banks, sometimes leaking in tiny trickles; sometimes erupting violently to the surface. Deeply Routed travels to places near and far, connected by these waterways, branching off like so many tributaries that flow to the Delaware River.

Tacony Creek Trail

Nestled in the heart of North Philly, Tacony Creek is a lengthy point-to-point trail (meaning a walk back to the start from wherever you end) that’s a full 3 miles in length with moderate inclines. If the full length feels intimidating, try breaking this story up into several trips. Watch out for motorized bikes on the path and note that many parts of this trail are secluded so consider bringing a friend to walk with. Free street parking is available near the trailhead. Accessible by SEPTA bus route #75.

TrailOff’s wonderful stories give honor and respect to the land their journey rests upon. “Lenapehoking” is the traditional territory of the Lenni-Lenape; the first peoples of this region. The Lenni-Lenape have thrived, shaped this land, and curated its beauty since time immemorial and continue at it to this very day! Before setting off make sure to take a moment of reflection for, esteemed regard of, and humble reliance to the original, present and future caretakers of this space.
